Jonathan joined Bell Temple in 2015 and practices civil litigation with a focus on insurance defence in the areas of accident benefits, diverse tort claims including casualty, occupier’s liability, insurance coverage, and disputes involving priority and loss transfer.
Jonathan’s previous career experience includes several years of practicing civil litigation, with an emphasis on insurance defence, at a reputable law firm in Toronto. Prior to that, Jonathan gained trial experience while practicing civil and commercial litigation in both official languages at a law firm in Montreal where he handled disputes pertaining to contracts, property, wills and estates, defamation, and intellectual property.
Jonathan regularly conducts examinations for discovery, attends mediations and pre-trial conferences, prepares cases for hearings and trials, and represents clients before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Licence Appeal Tribunal.
Jonathan is licensed to practice law in both Ontario and Quebec.
Jonathan is fluent in French and serves his clients in both official languages.
In July of 2017, Jonathan effectively represented a large insurance company in a three day License Appeal Tribunal hearing involving an accident benefits dispute pertaining to income replacement and attendant care benefits. The hearing involved the examinations and cross-examinations of multiple medical experts and complex medical issues. Jonathan successfully pleaded the matter and obtained a favourable decision for the client, including an order for repayment of benefits.
